Hello and Happy Sunday!

We begin our first full week of Quarter 2 starting tomorrow. Welcome to all our new in-person students that transitioned out of distance learning! We have discussed setting academic goals and your students should have set some for Quarter 2. Ask them about the goals they have and the steps it will take to achieve them. Our coming week overview is as follows:

Language Arts 

          Grammar - We're going to learn about direct objects and indirect objects and how to diagram them. We discuss point of view in writing and the use of personal pronouns to show who is telling a story.

          Composition – We will write an introductory paragraph and conclusion paragraph on Charlemagne this week in composition and history. We continue with summary writing in WWE and extracting essential details from a text. We will also have our first graded dictation exercise this week.

  Literature – We read Chapter 4-8 in Robin Hood this week and discuss if Robin Hood is or is not a hero. We will talk about rising action, climax and falling action and create a story map.

Latin/Greek Roots – we will explore words with the suffix of  -phobia and –ology this week.

Poetry – “Beowulf” memorization continues each day. This will be due Nov 6th.

Math –Division and estimating quotients continues. There is a quiz on Thursday.

History – Note taking continues on Charles the Great from multiple texts. Students will write paragraphs as mentioned above. 

Science – Send in snap circuits if you have them. Students will explore electricity by building circuits and discovering what is needed to make a device receive energy (i.e. bulb to light, fan to spin, etc.).
