Hello Fourth Grade Families,
Who's ready for the weekend? I know I am. This weekend we celebrate my newest sister-in-law and my newest nephew to be. I love a good celebration, especially one we can have outside in these unprecedented times. I hope you have some fun "down time" planned.
This week is our last week of Literature Circles for quarter 3. We finish Prince Caspian this week!
Let's take a look at what we're doing this week:
Language Arts -
Poetry - We're learning "Paul Revere's Ride" with stanza 8 due February 26th.
Grammar - This week we're turning our focus back to writing. We'll continue to review Grammar concepts with a quiz on Friday, 2/26.
Literature - We'll finish Prince Caspian this week. Their next literature book, starting in Quarter 4, is Carry On, Mr. Bowditch.
Roots - We'll have 15 derivatives this week with a spelling test on Friday.
Math - We've been adding and subtracting decimals and will take a quiz on that on Monday, 2/22. Then we'll be multiplying and dividing decimals.
Science - Now that we've discussed all the different types of rocks, we're ready to see what you've got! If your child has a rock collection at home and you're ok with them showing them to the class, please send them in next week. We will have a table that they sit on and can be looked at but not touched. This week we'll continue studying weathering and erosion.
History - This week we'll learn about Arizona as a territory and its path to statehood.
That's about it. We hope you're enjoying hearing about all of the wonderful things we're doing in fourth grade. Have a fantastic weekend!
Warmly,
Mrs. Scott
