This is it! The final fourth-grade blog of the year and my final blog EVER! I can't even believe it! I had such a crazy busy week, but it was wonderful, too. My daughter's senior play was last night, and it was a very clever play they wrote about books and they had over 50 characters with only 20 students. Lots of fun. Tonight is Rita's prom, so we're going to go take pictures and then celebrate our anniversary again - yes, I did go out after the children's concert on Wed. Isn't Mrs. Carpenter just incredible!! I've already planned to come back for my niece's concerts next year (if I'm in town, that is). Tomorrow is my make-up Mother's Day celebration with all five kids. Looking forward to us all being together. Monday will be the last CPA event before graduation. Dave and I are going to attend the awards ceremony over there for the first time ever. It's always during the school day, so I've never been. We were invited in particular this year because Rita is receiving some special award that she doesn't know about yet. Then we just have 4 half days after that. I'll spend my afternoons finalizing grades and getting the room ready for Mr. Smith.
I found out that I have to have surgery on my ankle. It hasn't healed with the boot, and I have two tears in two tendons that are right by the ankle. It's scheduled for June 13th. I'll have to be off my foot for 2 weeks, then back in the boot with some PT for 6 more weeks. Nice start to retired life, huh? Oh well, at least we're getting it done before my insurance runs out. I've got several trips planned from August to December (Alaskan cruise, Kansas - taking Rita to college, Oslo/London, Mexico, and Disneyland) so I hope I can fully recover in those 2 months. That traveling part of retirement sounds heavenly!
I'm not going to spell out any particular curricular events for the week. We will pretty much just be finishing those in-class essays and then doing some fun activities in each of the classes. Don't forget that Tues-Fri. are half days. Our Carry On, Mr. Bowditch party is on Thursday. Thank you to everyone who has pitched in to make it all possible.
Finally, thank you to all the families who make up this Archway community. It's been a pleasure to serve here for the past 12 years. I believe in the mission of this school, and I hope they will continue to prosper for years to come. May God bless you and your families.
