Good morning families! We had a wonderful first day in each of our classes. Not only did we cover the rules and procedures to help our days run smoothly, but we discussed the importance of character and having a growth mindset in the classroom and we got to know each other a little, too. This is my 10th year here and I feel so blessed to be a part of this community. I work with amazing people and have met so many incredible families. Thank you for entrusting your precious treasures to us!

Let's take a look at what we're going to be doing this week. We'll ease into it so the children can more easily get adjusted.

Language Arts:
Spalding - We will begin our Spalding notebooks on Thursday. I understand there is some confusion about these books, so hopefully that will give the office time to sort things out. The same thing goes for the agendas. Some have reached out to me regarding ordering a bundle and only receiving some of the items. I have notified the front office and hope they will have it all sorted out soon.

Literature - We will begin reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz on Wednesday. Please send it in with your child if you have not yet done so. We'll talk about setting and characterization this week.

Writing With Ease - We will not start with this packet until next week, so hopefully everyone can get theirs purchased in time. Be looking for an email from your child's teacher if they did not turn one in yesterday.

Grammar and poetry will begin next week, too, but the students do not need any supplies for those subjects except for their red spiral.

Math - We will start math on Monday, but won't be using our books until the following week. We'll just review some concepts from 3rd grade and start our Rocket Math routine.

Science - We will begin our first unit on the scientific method on Tuesday. The kids are sure to love the experiments and activities we do this year in science. We learned that it's a favorite subject for many of them.

History - Our first unit is about maps. Students will learn about different types of maps, latitude and longitude, and how to read a map.

I think that's about it. Don't forget to sign up to follow the blog via email. Scroll down and look for the widget on the left hand side of the post. Thank you! We know it's going to be an amazing year!

P.S. Please send the kids in with healthy snacks. Our lunch time is not until 12:35 so they need something substantial to tide them over until then.
