Hello Fourth Grade Families,
Another week is in the books. I hope you're continuing to have a relaxing extended weekend. We had a beautiful send off for my dad this weekend and are enjoying this beautiful weather for some much needed family time. Come Tuesday we should be refreshed and ready to take on another week.
Your scholar should have their Harp and Laurel Wreath, as well as their 4B Common Core Math Books.
Let's take a look at what we're doing this week:
Language Arts -
Poetry - We're learning "Paul Revere's Ride" with stanza 3 due January 22nd.
Grammar - This week we'll continue reviewing all of the parts of speech we've learned and how to diagram them. There will be a Grammar Test next Friday, 1/29.
Literature - Hopefully you've gotten a chance to see some of the poems your child has written. They should be compiling them in their LA spiral so that you can take a peek. This week we'll be writing cinquains, acrostics, limericks, and concrete (picture) poems.
Roots - We'll have 10 roots this week with a spelling test on Friday.
Math - We start in our 4B books on Tuesday. EVERY scholar is expected to have these books in class on Tuesday so that we can jump into our study of decimals.
Science - This week we'll be mostly focused on Earthquakes and the Ring of Fire.
History - Your scholars will continue learning about the ancient Indians groups in Arizona - the Mogollon, Hohokam, and Ancient Puebloans. We will also study the early explorers to North America and the reasons for the Age of Exploration. If you are looking for something educational to do with your child, The Arizona Museum of Natural History in Mesa is offering half price admission. They have great displays on the Ancient Indians of Arizona and much much more. Here is the link for their timed entry ticketing… https://online.arizonamuseumofnaturalhistory.org/Online/default.asp
That's about it. Enjoy another day off with your amazing fourth grader! We'll see them Tuesday!
Warmly,
Mrs. Scott
