Good morning! What another lovely weekend we have! Supposed to get to 101 on Tuesday, so let's get out there and enjoy it while we can! Last night I went to see the Great Hearts Choir performance from five different GH schools; they sounded so beautiful! Our wonderful Dr. Carpenter is a blessing to have over at CPA. Of course, unless you were here through all the years, you may not realize what an amazing gift it is to have Mrs. Carpenter back with us at Archway! What she does with these children is simply incredible! I can't wait to see what she will have the children singing for us this year. Speaking of singing, tonight I will be going to Gammage to see Hadestown. Don't know anything about it, but heard it is very enjoyable. In just a little bit I'll be going to a brunch with some friends. With only church on the calendar for tomorrow, I'm feeling good about a relaxing weekend...nothing to grade, lesson plans are set, and no big family events. Aaahhhh, maybe I'll stay off my ankle and take it easy. Maybe.
We are done with testing!!! Alleluia! Now we can just return to normal routines in the classroom. Let's see what this week holds for us.
Language Arts:
Poetry - We'll be passing out our final poem for the year, "If" by Rudyard Kipling. It is a little challenging, so they'll have 4 weeks to learn it.
Grammar - This week we'll do some pronoun review, work on our dictionary skills, and get more practice with action vs. linking verbs.
Latin and Greek Roots - As we wind down the year, we'll only have a couple more weeks of new roots, but we'll be focusing on reviewing all of the roots we have learned this year.
Q4 W6 Roots
Students and teacher will write these into Language Arts spiral under Latin/Greek Roots.

Math - We will learn how to find the area of a path this week and review the concepts from units 9 and 10. There will be a test on Friday.
Science - We will learn about the all-important gas exchange in the lungs this week as well as make a cool model for the kids to take home on Friday. Don't forget to send in those sturdy vitamin water bottles. Each child needs one for the activity, so if you have multiples, they would be appreciated.
History - We spent two days learning about the night of April 18th, 1775, and about the events that happened the following morning. On Tuesday, the students will write about that pivotal night and how it changed the course of history. Later in the week, we'll learn how our Founding Fathers comit treason by writing the Declaration of Independence.
I think that's it. Enjoy your weekend!
