Second-to-last blog today...strange indeed. I am late getting started because I forgot my computer at my daughter's house last night. We went over to babysit while they went to the D-Backs game. Today we're doing chores around the house and getting Rita's graduation cards out while we think about what she wants for food at her party. Tonight is her end-of-the-season softball party. Tomorrow, one of her friends is having a party and I guess it'll be graduation parties every weekend for a while. Since she began at Archway 12 years ago, many of her friends' families are now good friends of ours, so we will attend a lot of these events.

I've got a pretty full schedule this week. Monday, I'll have my MRI on my ankle and Tuesday after school I'll meet with another doctor for a second opinion. That night is Spring Sports Night at CPA. Wednesday is our concert, of course, but it also happens to be my 32nd anniversary. Wonder if it will be too late after the concert for us to go out? Thursday, I'm going to go over to CPA during their Lyceum to say good-bye to my former students, and then after school, my long-time colleagues will gather with me for a farewell party.  Friday is Rita's senior play. Saturday is Rita's prom (and most likely my make-up anniversary dinner) and then Sunday is my rescheduled Mother's Day, since my grandson was baptized last Sunday. Crazy huh? I feel like that 's been the story of my life for the past sixteen years. I've had 5 children going through high school for that many years! Now it's all coming to a crashing halt in two weeks. I'm looking forward to slowing down and taking more time for me. : )

Let's see what this last full week of school holds for your kids in the classroom.

Language Arts -

Poetry - Their final recitation is on Friday (or before if they are ready).

Composition/Grammar - We are finished with grammar lessons and will use both periods to work on their final essays. They will be due on Friday, too.

Literature - We'll finish our wonderful book this week, with the final opportunity ever with these kiddos to come in to read with them. That's right, they do not do reading groups in 5th grade. Sad.

Latin and Greek Roots - Thursday we will have a final comprehensive test over the meaning of the 74 roots we've learned this year. The definitions will be given (25 per page) and then a word bank for the 25 roots on that page.

Math - We finished with our books, so we'll be doing some fun math games and other activities these last two weeks.

Science - We finished our respiratory system unit and will learn about famous scientists these final days.

History - This week we'll finish up with the American Revolution and will start putting our lapbooks together toward the end of the week.

That's it. Hope to see you all at the concert. Please come and say farewell, since this is really the last opportunity to meet in person.
