Hi 4th Grade Families! Happy Thanksgiving to all. May your families take opportunities this weekend to express that for what we are truly thankful.
In our short week, we will cover important skills. It is crucial for your children to attend both Monday and Tuesday this week, as they are both full days of school. Wedneday-Friday are holidays.
There are a lot of student illnesses going around. If your child misses school, please make sure you request homework from the office when you call them out and make sure to pick it up or have it sent home with a sibling. Please do not send children to school with any kind of stomach issues, fever or excessive head cold or cough symptoms.
Curricular Focus:
Math- We will continue working with fractions in word problems using multiple steps to solve. Make sure all the sentence answers contain the units in which the fractions are measured.
Science- Over the next few weeks we will review "What is weather and why is it always changing?" and explore "What is climate and how is it different from weather?"
History- We will read Ch. 16, Eleanor of Aquitaine from our history books and do activities accordingly.
ELA-
Poetry- Keep practicing "Norman and Saxon" due Dec. 9th.
Literature and Composition- We have finished "Robin Hood" and will now us the time to focus on writing our 5-paragraph essays. Students are writing a position paper about the famous outlaw and will make a defense using our virtues if he was a hero or not. This is a huge assignment, and will only be worked on in school and completed in week 7. If students are absent, they cannot make up this work at home.
Grammar- There is a grammar test on Chapter 6 (Predicate Adjectives) on Monday and we will be completing a Predicate Review on pages 126-129 in-class on Tuesday.
There are not Latin and Greek Roots, but students should use this time to study the roots cards they do not know.
