Hello Great Hearts Families,
We had a wonderful time at the capitol last week learning about Arizona's history as a state. As we head into February, we'll have a half day both Wednesday and Friday this week. Here's what we're learning:
Spalding: We were able to take our Spalding tests last Friday before the field trip, so we'll start off a new week with a set of 31 words.
English: We are starting a new book! We'll ready The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian for the rest of quarter 3. Please join us for literature circles on Wednesdays!
Science: We're about to dig even deeper in our geology unit and study earthquakes! Your child will learn about modes of measurement, what causes them, and even effects like tsunamis. You can ask them to use their spiral notebook to "teach" you what they learned for study time!
History: Following our theme of ancient peoples, we'll move from Arizona's natives to other tribes around the world and the conquistadors who changed life for al of us. We'll also use this opportunity to take a look at multiple viewpoints of the same events.
Math: This week in math, we'll review what we've learned about decimals and then take a test over the unit on Wednesday. We won't have math on Friday since it's a half day this week.
Happy February!
