Good afternoon all 4th grade families. I hope this blog finds you all safe and healthy. With the latest news today, I thought I should update the blog (I forgot to do it this weekend). I want you to know that we are working hard to get the new online learning system up and running. We have a lot of training and resource material that is being provided by Great Hearts. I know it is disappointing to hear that we will not return to our school and our classrooms that we love so much. But, it is what we expected to happen, which is why we were trying to find a platform that would work long term.
I am excited to learn something new, although I don't know how it will be to videotape myself giving mini lessons to an empty room. But I have a growth mindset and I know that we can all learn through this new process. My husband got some tripods set up in a bedroom upstairs and I have a whiteboard available to use up there, too. Now all I need to do is learn about the new Swivel system for recording our lessons.
We just got our login information to begin setting up our Google Classrooms today. In addition to logging on and getting the plans and assignments for the week, this will be the vehicle by which you will be submitting the packets from last week and this week. Moving forward, the assignments will be given to you via GC and then they can be "turned in" through GC as well. I wish I could provide more information to you, but I am just learning it right now, too. I'm sure that GH will send an email with tutorials for parents and families. Hold tight, it will be coming in the next few days.
Thank you for your grace and patience as we maneuver through uncharted territory. Peace and blessings to you and your families!
Warmly,
Mrs. Maza
