Good afternoon, dear families, wow! thank you all for helping to make teacher appreciation week so special! We are so blessed to be a part of this great community.

I hope you are enjoying this weekend. I'm sure the kids are since it's a long one! I just love three day weekends; that extra day seems like the perfect amount of time to get all the extra stuff done that you can't manage to squeeze in on a Saturday or Sunday. I went to a wedding last night (that's the third wedding in 4 weeks!), and it was absolutely beautiful! I started thinking that I may need to begin my hunt for my mother-of-the-groom dress soon. My son's wedding isn't until October, but who knows how long it will take to find the perfect dress. Today, I've been trying to clean up and get ready for some in-laws who are coming to help with the house next door (Dave's parents are going to move in once it's remodeled, so we can help take care of them). Tomorrow, I'll have my mom and Dave's mom, plus all our own children, and one of my brothers and sisters over for a Mother's Day brunch. Should be a beautiful morning. I hope to be pampered myself later in the day....maybe with a crab dinner??? I hope all the fourth-grade moms will be treated with the love and appreciation that they deserve! We are so thankful to you for having all the wonderful children who fill our seats each day.

Let's take a look at what we'll be doing this week.

Language Arts:

Poetry - still working on "If" for the next two weeks.

Grammar - We're only doing a Daily Gram this week, to help prepare for Friday's test.

Composition - Monday we'll start our final essay. The students will have their choice of two topics: Firebrands of the Revolution, or the Virtuous Life of Nathaniel Bowditch.

Literature - We'll read the next three chapters of COMB this week. Don't forget to sign up to volunteer for reading groups if you are able.

Math - We are learning about volume now, our final chapter for the year! It's a quick unit ending with a test on Thursday.

History - We are going to wrap up our American Revolution unit this week, too. The big idea for this week is the significance of Valley Forge. How can a devestating winter yield positive results?

Science - I hope your kids told you about the distinctions between respiration and breathing last week. ?? We are going to be learning about how the gas exchange occurs in the lungs this week. We'll also have my favorite guest speaker, Dr. Cheroske, in to share his wisdom with the class on Thursday!

That will do it for week 8...only 3 more weeks! Hope you have a joy-filled day!
