Q2W9

Hi Fourth Grade Families!  We've made it to Week 9!  A whole semester of 4th grade is finished!  We've accomplished so much together, grown in so many new ways and brought forth more goodness, truth and beauty into our lives.

Here are some important items:

-This Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are ALL half days with a 12:30 release, please send only a snack to school.

-The Robin Hood Party is Thursday, 12/15 and students will have a feast at school. Please use the sign-up to help- https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0948a8a829abfd0-robin1

-Over break, please clean out the yellow folders WITH your child (do NOT throw away the "Paul Revere's Ride" poem).

-If your child has never read "The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe" (meaning they are new to Archway this year) they should read it over the Winter Break.  Fourth grade teachers can help with a copy to borrow.  New students may add this read to their Reading Logs once finished.

-The next Literature selection your children should bring in for January is "The Harp and Laurel Wreath".  Your child will also need this book in 5th grade.  Reading groups will resume in February with "Prince Caspian".

-Reading Logs.  Did you know your child should read about 30, 150 page books by the end of Fourth Grade?  That means they should have about 15 on their reading logs by now.  Do you ever check their log?  It is located in the back of the Roots Journal.  Students should report: Book Title, Author, amount of pages and the date completed.  Without these four parts, they cannot receive credit for the log.

-"Paul Revere's Ride" is our next poem for Q3 and the first 3 weeks of Q4.  It is broken into 13 weeks.  We are giving your child a copy BEFORE Winter Break (DO NOT THROW IT AWAY!) so students may begin studying and practicing.  The first and second stanzas are due January 12/13th.

-Field Trip.  Our first field trip of the year is January 13th.  The sign up will go live Monday, December 12th at 7pm.  Each class can take 5 parents as chaperones.  Use this link: https://archwaychandler.configio.com/pd/3860/22-23-4th-grade-chaperon--az-museum-of-natura?cid=389&returncom=productlist&source=search
