Welcome to 4th grade! I speak for the entire team when I say we are excited to have the opportunity to work with your scholars.
To begin, it is important to reiterate the mission of Archway Chandler, which is to cultivate the minds an hearts of our scholars. A very important part of this process is the implementation and enforcement of cultural guidelines. The partnership between the faculty and parents is integral to the development and success of our scholars.
Below are topics that are of particular emphasis in the Archway community.
Positive Communication
- Scholars greet teachers each morning, using appropriate titles (Mr./Ms./Mrs.) and respond in kind when greeted by faculty.
-Scholars should use appropriate language, such as "excuse me", "please", and "thank you".
-All requests and interruptions should be made in a respectful manner.
Positive Behavior
-Scholars are accountable for their immediate environment, including pushing in chairs and picking up trash
-Signals are used in the classroom to indicate a need- use restroom, ask for tissue, etc. - in order to limit disruptions to lessons.
-Scholars are expected to transitions silently in the hallway and practice proper line formation (facing forward and with hands behind their backs)
-We encourage polite expression of disagreement and apologizing when a poor choice is made. Our goal is always to seek resolution and create a positive learning environment.
Positive Mindset
-We foster a growth mindset in our classrooms. It is vital that scholars learn to cope with struggle and how to collaborate positively. We compliment effort, guide through obstacles, and share growth opportunities.
-We expect scholars to follow the dress code consistently. We dress for a purpose - to focus on learning and development of character.
-We expect scholar to put forth their best efforts in all aspects of the day. This in not to say that bad days do not happen. We encourage our scholars to do and be the best they can, even on tough days.
-Above all, as Archway citizens, we seek Truth, Goodness, and Beauty and help others do the same.
These act as the foundations to a healthy learning environment and will enable for a fantastic fourth grade year. Be sure to regularly check in with this blog , as it contains vital new information including but not limited to the following; reading groups, tests, projects, announcements, parties, class parents, expectations, needs, etc.
