Hello! I write this from a lovely little coffee shop in Flagstaff while I watch the train go by. I'm enjoying the end of my Fall Break and I hope you are too! Today is my daughter's 16th birthday. We have a weekend of celebration ahead! I can't believe I have a 15 and 16 year old. Is that even possible? For me this week brought a lovely refresh!
Miss O'Hara and myself, Mrs. Scott, will be writing the blog this quarter. As we venture into 2nd quarter I get so excited for the growth of our scholars. This quarter typically marks the time that you can really see them growing into their fourth grade selves. At the end of last quarter they each wrote a social and academic goal. It's so fun to see them taking responsibility for their education and achieving goals they've set for themselves.
The fourth grade team looks forward to seeing you at conferences (please be sure you've signed up):

This week:
Language Arts: We start Robin Hood on Wednesday. Please be sure your child has the correct version of it with them at school on Wednesday. The correct version is displayed on the left of this blog. We will resume Literature Circles on Character Day, October 30th. Thank you to all who have come in to read with the kids; they really do treasure that time to be with you. Please be sure your child submits the classical character they plan to be if they are signing up as it needs to be approved by their teacher.
Math: We start our study of fractions this week. We will resume the 5 minute Math Facts Study with Flash Cards or Fortune Tellers next week.
Science: We start our study of Meteorology this week. This unit is one of my favorites as the weather usually cooperates and shows us a little more variety as we move into our Arizona winter. Hopefully your child will start sharing with you what they notice about the clouds and the weather it may bring.
History: We're moving on in our story of the Middle Ages. This week we'll start our study of castles and what they were really like.
P.S. Save the date for our first service opportunity at Feed My Starving Children on Nov. 16 from 2-4pm. Watch for the sign up lnk coming soon.
Warmly,
Mrs. Kristen Scott
