Welcome back! This short week was such a great way to ease into 2nd quarter! We, the fourth grade team, hope that you all had a relaxing fall break. I had the opportunity to go on two short road trips to see some dear friends and family in New Mexico and California. I am very excited to be writing my first blog for fourth grade this year.

It was great getting the opportunity to meet with many of you one-on-one at our recent conferences. If you have not had an opportunity to meet with your student's teacher to discuss your scholar's progress in the first quarter please do not hesitate to reach out to your classroom teacher via email to schedule a time that would work with everyone.

This week:

Language Arts: We are continuing to read Robin Hood. Literature Circles start back up this Wednesday!
On Wednesday we will also have our Literary Character Day. Only scholars who have turned in their character sheet and have been approved by their classroom teacher may wear a costume.
Spalding will start again as well.
This week in grammar we will be studying adverbs.

Math: This week we are continuing to work with fractions. Ask your child to tell you what they know about fractions and challenge them to see fractions around them  (1/2 the family is currently in the car, 2/3 of us wear glasses, etc.)

Science: We will continue to dive deeper into the our meteorology unit. Starting with looking at the formations of clouds and finishing next week by looking at how we measure the weather. Last week our students had a lot of fun reviewing the water cycle. We should all now know that water travels in a cycle, yes it does!

History: In History this week, we will be learning about knights, chivalry and heraldry in the Middles Ages.

Please sign up a parent and fourth grader for Feed My Starving Children on Nov. 16 from 2-4pm.
Once all fourth graders and one parent have had a chance to sign up, if there are still openings we will open it up to another parent and families.  https://www.fmsc.org/join-group?joincode=8EP65P

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!
We are now one week away from the Faire. Unfortunately, there is still a gap between required and committed volunteers. We do have a handful of CPA volunteers but there are not enough to fill the remaining spots. For liability purposes, we cannot run bounce houses without adult supervision.
Volunteers can use the following link to sign up: https://signup.com/group/755835760012.

Warmly,

Miss Bella O'Hara
