Good Afternoon Everyone,

I have now officially finished my student teaching course as well as my masters in elementary education. It has been a tough road but I wanted to thank everyone who supported my growth along the way. It has been wonderful to have Kristen be my mentor teacher guiding me each step of the way. Although I have finished my student teaching course I will be staying with my lovely 4A class as I continue in the Great Hearts apprentice teacher program.

Let’s take a look at this week:

Language Arts: We will be finishing Robin Hood on Monday. Instead of having our usual lit circles we are planning to utilize that time for writing their Robin Hood essays. Their main essay question is “Is Robin Hood a Hero?” There will not be any spalding this week as we wanted to give our students the maximum amount of time to write their Robin Hood essay. Watch for sign ups for our Robin Hood party which will be Thursday, 12/19.

Grammar: We will be having a grammar test on Thursday.

Poetry: Students who have already recited their poems have been doing a lot of great work. Please remember that it is a part of your scholars homework to practice and recite their poem each and every day. The final date to recite it will be on Friday, 12/13.

History: We are focusing this week on finishing our lap books and folds. The typed winter project is due on Friday, 12/13.

Science: We will be reviewing and practicing our skills of reading weather maps. It would be great to have conversation this week with your scholar about what the difference between weather and climate is.

Math: We had decided to move our math test to Monday to allow more time for students to ask questions about the review and to get clarification on problems they may be struggling with. The following days we will be studying measurements and conversions.

We look forward to another great week in fourth grade.

Warmly,
Bella O’Hara
