Greetings,
4B is responsible for the blog for second quarter. Mrs. Shroll or Mrs. Kielmeyer will be communicating to you this quarter. This week it is Mrs. Kielmeyer. I hope you all had a fantastic fall break. My husband and I started the break off camping in Forest Lakes with my daughter and her family and friends. I say camping, but we stayed in a hotel a mile down the road from the campground. We spent the days and evenings with them hiking, playing frisbee golf, doing archery, and of course telling silly stories and memories around the campfire. I ended the break hosting Kielmeyer Cousin Camp in my backyard complete with sleeping in our pop-up-camper, cooking our food over a fire, going on a mountain hike (they really had to use their imagination), and an orienteering course. It was a blast. This was the first year we had all 6 grandkids because the youngest was now old enough to join us. The ages ranged from 3 years old to 11 and it was so special to see them work together and help each other accomplish various activities and tasks.
Let's take a look at what we have in store for our first half week and second full week of quarter 2. Please remember that Wednesday, Oct. 14, is a half day like all Wednesdays.
Language Arts
Grammar - We're going to learn about adjectives that tell whose, review the parts of speech, and get more practice with a variety of sentences and diagramming them.
Composition – We will review how to write an introductory paragraph and learn to write a conclusion to a 5-pargraph essay.
Literature – We will be starting a fourth-grade favorite, Robin Hood.
Poetry – We will begin memorizing “Beowulf”, which pairs nicely with our study of Medieval Europe.
Math – We will be doing division by ones and tens (4 and 3-digit numbers divided by a 1-digit number), word problems involving all 4 operations, and multiplication by a 2-digit number.
History - We'll be learning about King Charlemagne and practice note taking from multiple texts about him.
Science – We will use all that we have discovered about magnets to propel us into our study of electricity. We will discover how a magnet can be used to generate electricity, build circuits and discover what is needed to make a device receive energy (i.e. bulb to light, fan to spin, etc.).
Distance Learners please look for your invite to the single fourth grade Q2 classroom and accept the invitation.
Have a fabulous week!
