Hello Families! We had a wonderful week of winter project presentations. Thank you for all the hard work you put into helping your child get ready! They did a fantastic job. Now we're ready to get back into the swing of things with our first full week. Here's what we'll be working on:
Spalding: We have a full week of Spalding this week. Be prepared to help your child study their words each night as they prepare for our Friday spelling test.
History: We are flashing forward to US and Arizona history this week. Your child will make folds as we learn about our state's story.
Math: We will begin this week with an assessment in math to see how much our kiddos have remembered from the first 5 units we studied. Then, we'll begin learning about decimals! Starting with the tenths place and hundredths place. We will use Workbook B and Textbook B.
English: This week we will continue our unit on poetry, using The Harp and Laurel Wreath. Monday, we'll start writing our own poems, and eventually compile them together into a booklet. Our Paul Revere memorization goal for this week is to have the first two stanzas memorized by Friday!
Science: Geology! We are studying the Earth's core, mantle, and other layers, ending with a discussion on the Earth's continents. We'll need your help to make our models on Wednesday! Would you please send a 4-pack of play-doh with your child by Wednesday morning to make sure we have supplies for everyone? The 4 or 5 oz sizes should be perfect!
Important Dates:
Our State Capitol Field trip will be on Friday the 31st. Please use the link below to register your child for this trip. Every child must be registered to attend. Chaperone registration will begin on Wednesday evening at 7:00. We can take 5 chaperones per class.

There's no school on Monday the 20th in observation of Civil Right's Day.
